Philadelphia 76ers coach Eddie Jordan says he’s not worried about a newspaper report stating he could be fired soon. The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing unidentified sources, reported on Tuesday that Comcast-Spectator was ready to fire Jordan, likely after his first season with the team is complete.

Dunleavy out as Clippers GM (AP)

Mike Dunleavy and the Los Angeles Clippers parted company for good Tuesday, barely a month after he relinquished his head coaching duties to focus solely on being general manager. Now that arrangement is over, with the team announcing his departure in an e-mailed statement. Assistant general manager Neil Olshey will take over Dunleavy’s job.

An official within the league tells The Associated Press the NBA has not threatened to stop a potential reunion between the Cavaliers and Ilgauskas. The Cavaliers traded their longtime center to Washington last week in the three-team deal that brought Antawn Jamison to Cleveland. The Wizards may decide to buy out Ilgauskas, allowing him to become a free agent.

The Cavaliers are applying full-court pressure to Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Several of the center’s former Cleveland teammates visited him in New York on Tuesday, hoping to persuade him to re-sign with the Cavs and help them make a run at an NBA title. Ilgauskas, who has a place in SoHo, was traded last month to Washington in the deal for forward Antawn Jamison.






Ramirez on Dodgers’ roster for Taiwan (AP)

Manny Ramirez is on the Dodgers’ final roster for an upcoming three-game exhibition series in Taiwan, not that it guarantees the veteran will make the trip. The Dodgers are traveling to Asia for the second time in three years after also playing a series in China before the 2008 season. They will play three games against Taiwan all-star teams March 12-14.

The San Antonio Spurs waived swingman Michael Finley after nearly five seasons on Monday, giving the 15-year veteran a chance to finish the season with more playing time elsewhere. The Spurs said they honored Finley’s request to be released from his contract, which was in its final year after he exercised a $2.5 million option this season.

OT format could change for playoffs (AP)

An NFL spokesman says the league could change its overtime format for playoff games at a meeting next month. Greg Aiello said Satuday that under the new format, both teams would get the ball at least once unless the first team to get the ball scores a touchdown. If the first team to get the ball makes a field goal and the other team ties the game, action would continue until a team scores again.
