Michigan’s defense had its best effort of the season in Iowa City Saturday night. U-M’s emerging front seven consistently won battles with Iowa’s much hyped offensive line, holding the Hawkeyes to 84 yards rushing on 34 attempts, but it was the 284 yards surrendered through the air and, specifically, a few big passing plays that prevented the Wolverines from coming home with a win.

Coming over to Iowa as an exchange student in 2006, Jonny Mullings could have never imagined the whole experience would ultimately lead to playing college football. But the Bristol, England native, who grew up playing rugby, showed an extremely powerful leg as a punter and continued to pursue a future on the gridiron after returning home and eventually moving to Australia with his parents.
