Sidney Crosby ended a seven-game stretch without a goal by scoring twice, then joined Pascal Dupuis with shootout tallies as the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 on Sunday. The Penguins trailed 4-3 until Matt Cooke deflected defenseman Brooks Orpik’s slap shot from the right point with 3:48 remaining in regulation.

Houston’s Kevin Martin will miss his second straight game because of a sore left shoulder when the Rockets host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night. The 6-foot-7 player who was acquired from Sacramento in the three-team deal that sent Tracy McGrady to the Knicks on Feb. 18, has averaged almost 22 points and 3.3 rebounds in his 17 games since the trade.

Vladimir Guerrero doubled after receiving a standing ovation from Angels fans, but the Texas Rangers lost to Los Angeles 9-6 Thursday. Angels left-hander Scott Kazmir was scratched from what would have been his third spring start. Manager Mike Scioscia said Kazmir had fatigued left deltoid muscle. “We don?t think it will impact his first (regular-season) start,” Scioscia said.

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost outfielder Justin Upton to a sprained left ankle during a 10-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Upton ran the bases in the second inning, beating out a ground ball for an infield hit. He said he jammed the ankle lunging for first base, then felt it when stealing second.

Seattle Mariners left-hander Cliff Lee has a lower right abdominal strain and will miss at least a week of spring training. The team made the announcement on Friday. Lee was examined in Seattle by a team physician, who made the diagnosis. Lee underwent an ultrasound and was given a platelet-rich plasma injection.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington admitted he made a “huge mistake” when he used cocaine and failed a Major League Baseball drug test last season. Looking to bolster their pass rush, the Philadelphia Eagles acquired defensive end Darryl Tapp from Seattle on Tuesday. The Seahawks got defensive end Chris Clemons and the Eagles’ fourth-round choice in next month’s draft. Originally a second-round draft pick by Seattle in 2006, Tapp has 18 sacks, two interceptions, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 65 games.

White Sox prospect Mitchell carted off (AP) from Yahoo! Sports – MLB News
Chicago White Sox outfield prospect Jared Mitchell sprained his right ankle while making a spectacular, against-the-wall catch on a drive off the bat of Juan Rivera in a 10-7 split-squad win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Mitchell was carted off the field and taken to the hospital for X-rays.
BoSox's Lackey throws 3 shutout innings (AP) from Yahoo! Sports – MLB News
John Lackey is off to a nice start with the Red Sox. The right-hander threw three shutout innings in Boston’s 8-2 victory over Jason Bay and the New York Mets on Thursday. Lackey allowed three hits and has yet to allow a run in five innings over two outings this spring. The former Angels star joined the Red Sox in December when he finalized an $82.5 million, five-year contract.
