Felton had 16 points and Chandler added 15 as the Nuggets used a 8-0 surge early in the fourth quarter to pull away from the road-weary Hawks.

Auburn running back Eric Smith has been dismissed from the team for violating team rules. Athletics spokesman Kirk Sampson did not elaborate on the reason Monday. Chris Phillips is staying in Ottawa. The veteran defenseman, who has played all 925 games in his career with the Senators, has signed a three-year, $9.25 million extension. He’ll earn $2.75 million next season and $3.25 million each of the following years. There has been speculation that Phillips might be on the move, given the slumping team’s shuffling recently.

Derek Jeter will be doing extra work with hitting coach Kevin Long as the New York Yankees captain adjusts to a change in his stride at the plate. The pair are set for an additional session Tuesday at the Yankees’ complex. Jeter was not scheduled to make the road trip for a spring training game against Pittsburgh.
