Tony Parker scored 21 points and helped the San Antonio Spurs beat back a second-half comeback bid by the Houston Rockets for a 115-107 victory Saturday night. The Spurs led by 13 points in the second quarter and were up by 10 at the half before Houston took its first lead at 67-66 on a dunk by Jordan Hill with 6:06 left in the third quarter.

J.R. Smith scored 26 of his season-high 31 points in the second half, helping the Denver Nuggets pull away for a 131-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. Jason Garrison rarely scores, but when he does it’s usually important. The defenseman scored with 16 seconds left in overtime to lift the Florida Panthers to a 4-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. For Garrison, who was playing in his 100th career game, it was his fourth goal of the season and the third game-winner.

The New Jersey Devils found an unlikely star in Anssi Salmela to sustain their playoff drive. The defenseman scored his first goal of the season 3:09 into overtime in the Devils’ 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday night. Salmela took a feed from Mattias Tedenby and drilled a shot past Al Montoya as the Devils improved to 22-3-2 in their last 27 games.
