BYU quarterback Riley Nelson was thinking about Dan Marino when he ignored the play called by his coach. Instead of spiking the ball to stop the clock, Nelson faked that move and then threw his third touchdown pass, a 2-yarder to Cody Hoffman with 11 seconds left to give the Cougars a 24-21 victory over Tulsa in the Armed Forces Bowl on Friday.

Capping a tough season playing in the Southeastern Conference with a bowl victory means the Mississippi State Bulldogs are celebrating how they finished rather than lamenting what might have been. Senior Vick Ballard ran for 180 yards and the two longest touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ bowl history, and Mississippi State beat Wake Forest 23-17 on Friday night in the Music City Bowl.

Oklahoma dodged a big rally and a falling camera to pull out a gritty win. Blake Bell ran for his third touchdown in the closing seconds and the No. 19 Sooners survived a late rally, not to mention the crashing camera, to close out a difficult season with a 31-14 victory over Iowa in the Insight Bowl on Friday night.
